New Magazine to promote Kerala Tourism
Welcome to the Kerala Travel Explorer – a new A4 size glossy magazine in English, focussed exclusively on Travel, Leisure & Lifestyle in the Kerala context. Rich in content and photography, the magazine is founded by IT & Media entrepreneur Deepak Narayanan Nair, who is also credited with founding the award winning DestinationOman web portal and magazine in the Sultanate of Oman.
DestinationOman has an immensely successful track record of coming out consistently for the past 14 years and enjoys the distinction of being endorsed by the Oman ministry of tourism too. Having tasted success abroad, Deepak wanted to work out a similar magazine to promote his home state of Kerala to the world outside, when the idea of Kerala Travel Explorer struck up. The magazine which is positioned as a bi-monthly, is now three issues old and is worked out from the city of Kochi, with a team of handpicked professionals.
Engaging content
The Kerala Travel Explorer magazine that incorporates very high print and production values features engaging content on varied subjects, including travel destinations, art, tradition, culture, business, sports, cuisine, architecture and cinema that are integral to the psyche of the average malayalee.
Deepak believes it is the people of Kerala that make what Kerala is, and because Keralites are found in all parts of the world, in every possible vocation and sphere of activity, the magazine features several exclusive personality interviews, to help people to get to know Kerala and the people of Kerala better.
An interesting array of personalities have been featured in the three issues released so far. Some personalities already featured are prominent Keralites like Gold baron TS Kalyanaraman, young award winning author and literary personality Manu S Pillai, Kochi Metro Managing Director Mohammed Hanish, Kerala Tourism Director P Bala Kiran, celebrated Kathakali artiste Kalamandalm Gopi, Mohiniyattam exponent Soumya Sathish, Handloom entrepreneur Sobha Vishwanath, Mural Artist Prince Thonakkal, Restaurateur Sumesh Govind, and film personalities like Shyamaprasad Rajagopal, Sujith Vassudev, Unni Mukundan, Rima Kallingal and Prayaga Martin, to name a few.
The magazine being published in English is also excellent source for the new generation malayalees who love their home state and everything about it, but never had the opportunity to learn to read and write their mother tongue, as they were raised abroad or in other parts of India, where opportunities to learn their Malayalam in their schools was non existent.
“There are many malayalees, like me and my children who were raised outside Kerala and but unfortunately never had the opportunity to learn to read and write our mother tongue. But, we love our state of Kerala and its people, speak Malayalam, love Kerala cuisine, watch Malayalam movies and wish to know more about the icons of Kerala in a language we are comfortable with”, said Deepak Nair.

The Kerala Travel Explorer is not in print alone. It is backed strongly by digital media platforms like an interactive mobile responsive website, plus a host of social media channels like facebook, instagram, twitter, linkedin and youtube.
